For flights with Myanmar Airlines International, it’s recommended to arrive at the airport 3 hours before departure. If you’re flying with Myanmar National Airlines on a charter flight, you should aim to arrive 2.5 hours before departure.

Upon arrival, you’ll need to independently proceed through passport control, customs clearance, and check-in for your flight. It’s important to complete the check-in process at least 40 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

Baggage allowances may vary depending on the airline, so it’s advisable to verify the specific rules with the airline you’re flying with.

  • From Mandalay to Novosibirsk, it takes approximately 5 hours.

When importing and exporting foreign convertible currency, there are no specific limits but any amount exceeding $10,000 must be declared. Exporting the national currency is prohibited.

For duty-free import, travelers are allowed to bring in 200 cigarettes or their equivalent in cigars or tobacco, as well as one open bottle of strong drink, a reasonable amount of perfumes, household items, and personal necessities.

However, it’s important to note that without appropriate certificates, the export of antiquities, works of art of artistic and historical value, and jewelry is prohibited.

Furthermore, the import of weapons, ammunition, drugs, toxic substances, audio and video recordings that disrupt the state system and spiritual traditions of the country, as well as wild animals and their stuffed animals, is strictly prohibited by Law.

When checking in at the hotel, it’s important to present the tourist voucher included in your package of documents to the hotel reception. This voucher confirms your accommodation arrangements and ensures a smooth check-in process.

The check-out from the hotel is typically at 12:00 pm. However, guests wishing to stay beyond this time may incur an additional fee for extended room occupancy. Luggage can be securely stored in the hotel’s storage room. It’s advisable to settle any outstanding bills for additional services, such as minibar usage or telephone calls, before departing to avoid complications.

It’s recommended to call the additional phone number specified in the policy only from local landlines. The terms of insurance typically include services at the place of your stay without additional payments, unless an unconditional deductible is indicated in the policy.

Once you contact the service center, they will process your request and call you back to discuss further actions. The form of assistance provided, such as a doctor’s visit to your hotel, a consultation with a hotel doctor, or an independent examination in a clinic, depends on the nature of your complaints and the organization of assistance in the country or area.

If you incur expenses related to the insured event, such as taxi fares, phone calls about the event, or payments for medical services, you may be eligible for reimbursement within the framework stipulated by the conditions of your insurance policy. Upon returning from your trip, you can contact the AlfaStrakhovanie Service Center to arrange reimbursement of expenses.

Additionally, to avoid getting lost, always carry a business card from your hotel with you. This is especially useful as there are many hotels with similar names, and the business card typically includes the hotel’s address.

In Myanmar, the most popular intercity transportation options include planes, buses, and minibuses. The railway network is, however, not extensively developed yet. Alternatively, you can arrange for a car with a driver. City grab taxi services are convenient while cruising taxis are easily available. Taxi fares are reasonable and cruising taxis can be negotiated in advance.

During your visit to Myanmar, do explore local markets and shops for a variety of unique souvenirs and products typical to the destination of visit. Some popular to consider purchasing include handwoven fabric products, teak wooden items, lacquerware, bamboo and cane handicrafts, marble crafts, gems & jewelry, coffee and green tea, cashew nuts and peanuts, pickled tea (laphet), dried mango and other fruits.

Myanmar has a variety of cuisines typical to the destination of visit. The main meal is normally rice, curry, soup and vegetables. Some dishes share similarities with Thai, Indian, and Chinese cuisines. One signature dish is Mohinga – a bowl of rice noodles taken with hot boiled river fish soup and crispy fries. Most foreigners enjoy a variety of rice or wheat noodles such as Shan noodles, Nangyi Thoke and Beik Katkyikite. Some tempting street food snacks are nourishing. Popular sea food cuisines are available at fine dining and at seaside beach resorts and reasonably priced.

While visiting Myanmar, it’s important to observe certain cultural customs and practices. Here are some guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Refrain from drinking tap water; use only bottled water.
  • Try to avoid drinks with ice especially during hot weather.
  • When entering a pagoda or temple or monastery, remove your shoes, socks and headgear at the entrance.
  • Ensure your clothes cover your knees, shoulders and belly.
  • Avoid pointing your finger at people or Buddha images.
  • Do not touch someone else’s head unless you are friendly with each other.
  • Please use both hands or right hand when you give an object or a gift to someone.
  • All valuable documents should be kept in the hotel safe or at the reception.
  • Make sure you eat freshly cooked food.
